INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE OVERWHELMED WITH UK’S NEW POLICY OF TWO YEAR WORK VISA

The campaigning done by Indian students and student bodies towards a two-year work visa for all international students had finally worked. On September 11, 2019, the UK government announced a new two-year post-study visa for international students, which is expected to be introduced on the summer of 2021.

Home office officials commented on Sep 15th that anyone who has graduated and has valid Tier 4 visa leave at the point the new route is introduced will be eligible. So, a person joining for a one year master's degree, who graduates in 2021, will be able to use the new route.

This shines as an opportunity for the graduate and undergraduate students to seek employment or work at any expertise level after finishing their course at a recognized higher education institution with a reputation of adhering to the immigration law. No restrictions will be imposed on the qualified students, which will enable them to choose their career in UK variedly. After the given two years, they will be able to switch onto the skilled work visa if they find a job which meets the skill requirement of the route.

This policy which was long awaited by the students and organizations globally is well appreciated and it also aligns with the objectives of International Education Strategy of UK released in the year 2019.

The declaration that fits well with the plan is as follows:

1) To build international student numbers in higher education in the UK to 6000,000 by 2020; at the present time, there are around 460,000 foreign students studying in British universities.

2) To nearly double the estimation of education fees to US$46 billion, which will require a normal annual growth rate of 4% through 2030.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has effectively re-instated a policy ended by his predecessor Theresa May around nine years ago, said the change would see students "unlock their potential" to begin careers in the UK.

That being said, this new route of granting a two year work visa for the students graduating during or after 2021 is really a door Indian students were knocking on and it is open and up for their grabs.
